The cylinder of the double-rod actuator shown in Figure 7.19 is held in the mid-stroke position by setting the pump displacement to zero. Starting from Eqs. (7.10), disregard the friction forces at the cylinder and the inner conduit volumes and show that the actuator in the figure can be modelled by the following equation:

where m is the mass of the piston and the rod together.
