Policy Brief

Posted: April 7th, 2022

In this assignment you will practice applying literature and concepts in international development and education in a policy argument. You will write a 3-4-page policy brief on an issue of your choice applying concepts or ideas from at least three of the class readings (double-spaced, Times New Roman, size 12 font). The policy brief should explain relevant concepts in clear language and be accessible to readers who are not experts on the topic. The brief should analyze a contemporary education and gender issue and devise a policy approach to address this issue. See examples here (Links to an external site.) and in the Canvas folder.

Grading criteria- The policy brief will be graded on how well you articulate an education and development issue of choice, and the thoughtfulness of the recommendations you make on how to address this issue. A policy brief is a different writing style than a literature review, and grading will take into consideration effort made in understanding how to write a policy brief. Points, concepts, or examples from at least three readings must be integrated into the brief. Additional readings can be brought into the essay, but the essay does not need to substantively cover all readings.
