You will write paper concerning the recent Purdue Pharma settlement with the US Department of Justice. The objectives of this assignment are to allow you to explore a real time topic relevant to the class, and to strengthen your research, reasoning and writing skills. feel free to use any information sources you would like.
The paper should be at least two full pages and consist of the following sections:

Introduction: The introduction should begin with a statement of the topic to be discussed. In this situation, that will basically consist of the history and facts surrounding the case.
Body: The body of your text should contain the main points from your research concerning the reasons the parties in this case have decided to settle and the arguments and rational of those opposing the settlement.
Results: What is the impact of this settlement from a short term and long-term standpoint from a business, economic, industry and social standpoint. Explain why your research has led you to believe certain things about your subject. How has your view changed from when you began the project? Has it stayed the same, and why?
Discussion: End with a summary and a conclusion about the topic in question. Finish by stating an opening question or by prompting the reader to continue his or her own research on the subject through a discussion.

Remember, you will need to cite your references. I am not asking for a bibliography so you will need to cite your references in the body of the paper. Keep in mind that any information you relate in the paper should have a source. If you have questions on how to use/do citations, check this out https://library.augsburg.edu/Citation_Management
I will grade the papers based upon research conducted, style, content.
Style: Is the paper well-structured? Are grammar and spelling correct? Are references cited correctly in the text and at the end? Is the paper a pleasure to read? I strongly recommend that you write your paper a few days early and let it sit so that you can review it with a fresh eye. It might also be a good idea to get input from a friend.
Content and references: Do you cover the most important points of the issue? Do you have up-to-date information? Were you able to locate the most important sources of information for your topic?
