GENERAL PAPER GUIDELINES FOR FINAL PAPER
General Requirements for Research Paper:
v You are required to use 10 resources for this paper, 5 of which should be articles from refereed journals, edited books or government documents.
v The paper should be typed using Times New Roman 12 point font.
v The paper should be 10-12 pages.
v The paper should be double spaced.
v The paper should have one-inch margins all around.
v APA formatting is required for citation of reference materials.
v Pages should be numbered according to APA style. Note: Reference pages and cover pages are not part of the page count. However, the reference pages are numbered sequentially.
v This paper should not contain running heads.
v This paper should contain a cover page with the title, your name, the date, class name and number, and my name.
Specific Requirements for Research Paper:
Introduction (2-3 paragraphs)
1. Relevant statistics should be presented on your topic (2 paragraphs)
2. Thesis statement (1 paragraph)
a. Thesis sentence (Your thesis sentence should start your thesis paragraph by writing “This paper will address …………”
b. Definitions of abstract term(s) (then you go in and define abstract terms such as delinquency or abuse or violence. Any word that can have more than one meaning you want to clarify how you are defining it for your paper. These are not dictionary definitions you want to use your articles to see how others have defined the terms and use those).
Literature Review (5-6 pages)
This section is a presentation of current literature on the topic you are discussing. This section should include a presentation of 3 topics related to the overall issue you are presenting.

Program or Policy Review (4-5 pages)
Choose a program or Policy to address the issue you are writing about. Discuss the policy or program in detail (see below for more specific details)
