Formal Paper

Conflicted feeling about parents is a thread that runs through the works we’ve read this semester. Using the first two chapters in “Hong Kingston’s” memoir: the women warrior: memoirs of a girlhood among ghosts 16. and “This Boys Life”: A Memoir by Tobias Wolff examines how the author represents their parents and explores the nature of the conflict that shapes that recalling.

Do not use any information from the films. Any evidence of use of the internet or another form of plagiarism will result in a grade of F and no chance to revise. Papers will be scanned. Review the statement on academic integrity on the syllabus.

Papers that are C or below will have a chance to revise, if the paper is received on time.

Length: 6-7 pages plus a works cited sheet correctly formatted in MLA style

Reminder: Brief quotes [cited in MLA format] should be used to highlight your ideas. However, your argument and examination of the textual evidence must remain central. Avoid mere retelling. Recall the work we did on this week’s Zoom on keeping the author’s crafting central to a response.
