Spike Lee’s Do the Right Thing and Steve McQueen’s Hunger represent moments of extreme social tensions in the 1980s, one film dealing with race relations in the US and the other with the Troubles in Ireland. Choose one stylistic element of these films that we’ve discussed (use of color, the scores/uses of diegetic music, use of dialogue/sound editing, use of overlapping narratives, etc.) and compare how this element is used in each film. After comparing the way this element is used in each film, you will need to explain how this helps to convey what you think the film’s message is.
